Information
Ratchet ring tools are used to remove the ratchet rings (aka drive rings) from inside the rear hub shell on our geared hubs. Normally, the only reasons to remove the ratchet ring would be to replace a damaged ring or to swap to the other style/number of teeth (24T or 48T).
Specific
- Ratchet rings come in 24T or 48T styles
- Match the tool with the number of teeth on the ratchet ring you are removing
- No tool needed for installation (rings thread in by hand and “seat/tighten” with pedaling force)
- If you are swapping to a ratchet ring with a different number of teeth, you will need to purchase a complete ratchet ring/pawl/spring kit to match (go to parts>Hub Engagement Kits)
- Part # KITRRING24 for 24T rings
- Part # KITRRING48 for 48T rings
- Refer to the technical documents below to help you figure out which system you have
- (Hint: count the number of “clicks” in 1 rotation of your freehub or count the teeth on the ratchet ring)
- We do not recommend swapping ratchet rings on old hubs (10+ years) unless the ring is damaged
- This tool is not compatible with other hub brands
